1st Academy of Security Science Education & Training Pvt. Ltd. (1st ASSET) recently conducted its first modular training course on the Fundamentals of Electronic Security Systems from February 23rd to March 2nd, 2011. The introductory course consisted of five modules including (a) Introduction to Security Technology and its Implementation in the Workplace (b) Perimeter Protection, Intrusion Detection & Alarm Systems (c) Access Control & Visitor
Management Systems (d) CCTV (e) Command & Control Centres.
The course was booked to capacity and was attended by professionals from Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Viramgam, Barmer, Pune, Mumbai, and the National Capital Region. Organisations represented included Cairn India, GAIL, Matrix
Laboratories, and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. among
others. The training had a strong component of practical demonstrations of the different technologies presented.
The course attendees were mostly persons with more than five years’ background of working in the security industry, who still felt that they would like to brush up on their knowledge and get a more rounded perspective of the available electronic security systems. Without exception they all felt that the course had been very useful and that they would unhesitatingly recommend it to others to improve their knowledge. Some attendees who could not attend all five modules were keen to know when the course would be conducted again so that they could attend the remaining modules while others who had completed all five modules wanted to know when the advanced courses would be held.
Mr. GB Singh, Director, 1st ASSET, assured them that the dates would be announced soon and that the probability was that the course would be repeated in May 2011. The out of station attendees requested that such courses should be
held closer to their cities so that they could nominate more members from their own organisations as well as recommend
them to their friends and colleagues. Mr. GB Singh affirmed that he would examine the financial and logistical implications of such a step.
The reactions of the course attendees were encouraging. Col Harjinder Singh from
Cairn India said that the course comprised an excellent set of modules. Mr
Subhash Sharma from CEIL found great value in the module on access control
systems which cleared the concept of access control systems. Mr Nitin Rai of
GAIL said that all sessions were highly beneficial and recommended them for
security professionals who wish to update themselves on technology. |
